Antonio Benito Lopez produced a masterclass to win the 2026 TradeINN Zarauzko Triatloia for a third time in his career. The Bianchi Pro Triathlete crossed the line in 3:53:34 to claim another victory at one of Spain’s biggest middle-distance races. Behind him, Mikel Arrasate finished second at 1:20, while Nacho Gálvez completed the podium.
Antonio Benito Lopez had an excellent swim as he exited the water as part of a lead group of five. The front group was reduced to four, before Arrasate attacked hard on San Blas and briefly opened a gap. But Benito stayed calm. When Arrasate was forced to stop with cramps, Benito, Vaelen and Gálvez reached T2 together with about 1:30 over Arrasate. From there, the race belonged to Benito. The Bianchi Pro Triathlete pushed the pace from the start of the closing 20k run and never looked back. The Spaniard opened up a gap of 1' in the first 6k and stayed firmly in control until the finish line. Another fantastic victory for Benito Lopez and his third Zarautz crown on the Basque coast. A real boost of confidence for Antonio who has his sights firmly set on a top peformance at the Ironman European Championship in Frankfurt in two weeks time.
